Dear List, With Daimler-Chrysler in the act, I wish Chrysler would get a good conversion package for a 3.8 V-6 Grand Caravan. It has enought torque to pull my ski-boat across country while cruising at 70-80. It would be backed by plenty of parts and dealers in N.A. In 20-30 years it would have it's own mail list populated by ex-x-gen (and y and z) survivors who are trying to find something in this world they can identify with. A cheap 4 cyl version with one bed, a pop or fixed high-top, fold out butane stove etc. could still be made for about 20K. When bought as a second owner vehicle this might be the choice of people living "down by the river - recycled for, and giving new meaning to the term, "street people". I doubt if I will buy a 50K Mercedes and/or 40K VW when the '82 westy gives up or crashes. But a peoples camper made on the reasonably priced caravan/voyager platform would be within reach price wise, give adequate performance and double as a second vehicle my wife would actually drive. Makes too much common sense ... so probably infinitely improbable ...
