There are two switches, and there must have been a bad batch of them produced at one time. I and my friend both had the switches go out on new master cylinders within a month of installation. If the red brake warning light on the dash is not going on when you press the brakes, BOTH switches are bad. They are cheap and easy to replace as Jim indicates. Listees, check your brake lights often!
