I didn't replace them, with no ill effect so far, but it hasn't been long enough to judge yet. I was careless about properly torquing the bolts that hold the plate to the converter though, with, as Doktor Tim puts it, all hell to pay. I was lucky I didn't destroy the engine, I only had to buy a rebuilt torque converter and new plate. and pull the engine, of course. > >I know...not DM if VW says to do it. I wouldn't do again. If the engine is out, I'd do whatever it took to do it the right way. Doktor Tim's guilt-inducing lecture series is having quite an effect on me. I am now planning on dropping the engine again and replacing those bolts. Don
