Subject: Praises for the Porta-potti, was: Winter Camping

Ladies and Gents:

Allow me to effuse on a matter that is fundamental (the old definition). I cannot speak highly enough for the toting of a Porta-Potti in one's camper. Our is in the Westfalia-made potti-box/jump seat that straps in behind the passenger seat. I would leave home without it. It changes everything.

Rather than timing your life to the frequency of the truck stop or rest areas, you can allow nature to choose her magic moment, and you can accommodate her need without strain, or delay. No more road trips with clenched teeth, and tightened muscles as you anticipate a distant relief, only to find it closed for cleaning. Imagine your family and friend's amazement when you arrive for the holiday's relaxed, and composed, rather than making a wild-eyed mad dash upon entering their home.

While parked or camped in campground, what a delight to remain in the privacy and warmth of your wheeled abode when nature calls. And if that call comes at an in-opportune time, how comforting it is to remain in ones pajamas, and find relief oh-so nearby.

While some will mess with tippy buckets, coffee cans, bumper-dumpers, and the like, I prefer the "designed with one mission" approach of a Thetford...With a hermetically sealed capture vessel, enzymes quell the small and turn solids into liquids... plus, a flush of clean water, just like at home. You won't find me taking aim at a tin can in my van.

Thetfords are about $100 at Sears. Enjoy a little butt (uh, BIT) of civilization on the road.
