Thank you all very much for your suggestions; so far I've pulled the plugs,
cleaned them, fouled them again with what appears to be oil in about ten
minutes (pulled and cleaned plugs twice for good measure.)  It'll run very
well for a few minutes then start idling roughly and finally dies.  I
changed the oil (and smelled plenty of gasoline in it) and the exhaust isn't
nearly as thick, or doesn't seem to be, and the temp in Denver has been a
fairly constant 25-40 degrees  while I've been working on it. It seems like
the combustion chambers are filling up with oil and/or gasoline and after a
few minutes it fouls the plugs and that's what's killing it.  Is there
something similar to a PCV valve or EGR valve on it?  My Bentley manual
hasn't arrived yet and I'm finding very sparse emissions info in Haynes.
I tried to push it home Monday night after getting it going and having it
die, and was rocking it through a bump, when it went one way and I went
another, so several strained muscles in my back have left me on the
sidelines for a few days.  On Friday I plan to try each idea I've been
offered.  Also if anybody can make it stop snowing here, it would be
appreciated.
