Either 30w or 20w50 Castrol. Check your owners manual for the temperature spread. Some folks swear by straight weight oil and have lots of reasons to back them up. Other folks swear by multi-grades, and have lots of reasons...If you just follow the chart in the manual, and swap your oil & filter frequently, you will be fine.

So, what type and grade of oil is best to use in my 82 Westy? I live in So Cal so the weather is pretty mild (I know that is an understatement for many of you on this list) Should I change grades at different times of the year? Is a multigrade the way to go? I know it seems like a simple question but I am still a rookie! David
