I also have question about block heaters..
Is there anyway to rig up the block heater to an auxillary battery?
 This would be handy when I have to park my bus at work for the
 good part of the day.. Then perhaps you could incorporate a
timer to turn on 1/2 hour to 1 hour before you need to drive.
