The reason we are still on the old English units of measurement is simple.
Business cried that they could not afford to spend billions retooling
everything and then continuing to double stock things through a transition
period.
In a nut shell the answer is the same for most questions about why people do
or don't do things in this country: MONEY (especially short term money)
