You don't need to worry about bleeding the system.  Just pinch off the
hoses with wood blocks and a c-clamp, remove the old and slide in the
new.   Check the coolant recovery tank every day for a week or so and
top up as necessary.  The air bubble created during the swap should
purge itself, at least it did in my case with a couple of days of
driving.

I also drilled a couple of 1/4 inch holes in the floor under the heater
core to drain out any future leaks.  I am convinced this little gesture
has extended the longevity of the heater, the used one I put in has
lasted much longer than the original did!
