It is possible to do the engine conversion for $3000 USD - depending on what your local labour rates are and how good of a deal you can get on used engines. The 83-84 GTI / 84-89 Cabriolet-Scirocco engine (code JH) is a very simple engine to configure and will give you a decent 90hp and extend your RPM limit by over 1000rpm - we have a simular engine in our 84 Westie and it works quite well.

- Fast Forward Engine Conversion Kit Includes adapter plate, flywheel, motor mounts, oil pan coolant hoses and instruction manual $1300 USD - 1.8L engine from Scirocco with all the trimmings $500 USD - Exhaust system and deck lid $500 USD - Labour for installation (14h @ 50/h) $700 USD

If you would like more information, please p-mail me!

Thanks!
