A camping rule my Dad once taught me is to double every functionality for when it breaks/runs out of fuel. So, even though your Vanagon comes fully equipped with interior lights, cooker, sink and fridge, also bring a battery operated torch (not one you charge from the car battery), a Coleman gas stove (nice to use outside too), and a large jerrycan for fresh water for when the water pump breaks. Maybe an icebox to replace the fridge although that will always keep its insulatory capacities, even when it's broken.

My use of 'when' in the above, not 'if' is deliberate :-)

This is apart from all the technical stuff you need to keep the Vanagon going.

Happy camping! Robin 90 Vanagon Westfalia Atlantic TD 84 Westfalia Joker D (fs)
