I tried rewiring seriously, but started laughing and wrecked the whole
thing.  If you want to make Ice cream don't wreck your fridge, buy an old
fashion ice cooled maker, or hunt your local thrift stores for a dorm-room
type fridge and set it to the max cooling setting.  You'll need A/C to make
it work, but at least it will leave you with a still good westy fridge.
