I have a 4x6 utility trailer that I built a cover for out of 1/4" plywood and 1x6's. To the cover I attached 4 "bike tights" so that I can carry 4 bicycles on the trailer plus have an enclosed, lockable space to put all our camping gear. Except for our water and coolers almost everything we take camping is carried in the trailer. I was suprised when I ran the loaded trailer over the scales at the county weigh station. I estimated in my mind that it would weigh around 1500 pounds (682 kg). I t actually weighed 900 pounds (409 kg)! Anyway, with my relatively fresh motor (20,000 miles on a VW factory rebuild) it pulls with ease. I am aware it's there and drive accordingly but I definately don't think it is taxing the abilities of my Vanagon.
