As an Italian-American, I take offence to the phrases "defendant" and "alleged perpetrator."

In WWII, the British called the Italians 'Itis' (pronounced Eyeties). There was also a rumour that Italian armoured vehicles had one forward gear and four reverse gears to make retreating easier.
