You can get safety belt harnesses for dogs as well as people. One thing if the K9 is on the pass. seat, what if it is in the back seat? A colleague of mine has a 60 kg Rottweiler that usually stands in the rear seat, halfway between the front seats in his Ford Sierra (Merkur XR4TI in the US). Not a good solution in a crash!
