This is one of the few places (I believe) in the lower 48 where there is absolutely no light pollution at night. This makes it quite eerie at night particularly because of the high plains - little foliage (of any meaningful height) and most of the mountains are in the distance. This story makes me wish that I had a "road trip" in the near future...
