I had a foreign exchange student friend from Switzerland during High
School...He couldn't get his mind wrapped around the idea that we couldn't
just hop in the car and head out to LA for the weekend. I showed him
pictures of Kansas and Texas, and he said "Oh yeah, there's a place in
Spain that looks like that..." We had to get out an atlas, and show him how
big the Pampas of Spain were, and how big the Desert southwest and prairies
were. His only words were "I can't imagine...I just can't imagine that."

There's a lot of open space in this country. A lot of territory with only
you, and Clown Around.

No kidding - just recently drove from San Antonio heading West to beautiful
downtown Del Rio & lost tunes in the rental ~40 miles out: & I mean the
just quit working; stopped & checked the antenna, fuses,...nuthin'.  Didn't
get sounds again 'til Del Rio.  Almost as desolate as south eastern Oregon,
or around Rachel, NV.
