I have addressed this with my bus. I have a block heater that has the standard 120 V plug. I manufactured a hole in the lid of the engine compartment, through which I pass the block heater cord. There is an extension cord that passes through the interior of the bus (under carpet on the driver's side, etc) that appears behind the driver's seat. That may be plugged into a power inverter the operates off the lighter socket (which I also use this time of year to power the Christmas lights on the outside and inside of the bus :) ). I do not use a timer, I just plug it in a little while before I need to start up (time depends on temp, but rarely more than 1/2 hour). At home, I run off the household current instead. -- Mark A.
