Lot's of folks have had the same reaction.

The interesting thing I've found is that I only ever end up using the
stereo/theater setup in town or on the road.  Mainly in my driveway.

Whenever I get to some really great spot, beach or lake, neither my wife nor
I are in the mood for loud noise.  Some kind of self limiting circuitry, I
guess.
