I installed a self-contained powered Alpine subwoofer in my Westfalia. It's about 18x10x7 and I just hang it off the edge of the storage area under the rear seat using a couple of brackets I made. It's easily removeable if need be and I didn't have to give up any storage space or cut up any cabinets.
