Wow!! I'm having this same problem... (see Headlight Help!!)

I just replaced the ignition switch (electric part only), but then...

REALLY WACKY things started to happen. My lights work, but the brite indicator
is reversed! (on when dim, off when brite). My dash board dimmer works only
when the ignition is off. Wipers worked perfectly when I first tried the new
switch, but then went back to not working at all. My tach and oil pressure
lights go on and off with the headlight switch!! It's really weird, is my van
haunted???? Is it the ghost of Vanagon past????
Any clues?
I was going to change the headlight switch next, but can't get one until after
Xmas...
