I have read all the 5 speed tranny posts for the last two years and am a little confused. From what I read, the first gear in the Syncro 4 speed, and both the European, and SA is the same at 4.11. The only difference is the push-down lockout on the Syncro version. Is the difference in the ring and pinion for a Syncro what makes first the "granny gear" in a Syncro. What ring and pinion does a stock US Syncro have? If the goal is to have lower rpm at 70-75 mph with a Syncro what is required?? Is tranny is in SA Syncro's. In fact, ...is is possible to get a SA 2.6l engine and tranny combination for a US Syncro?? (and somehow make it CA smog legal)
