Subject:      spilled brake fluid

Just a note about brake fluid I hadn't seen in the responses thus far...

Brake fluid is extremely hygroscopic: it attracts and holds water molecules in a BIG way. What this means, is wherever brake fluid is exposed to air, it will scavenge water from the air, and hold it against your van, your wires, your relays, your fuses. You get the picture: CORROSION.

My first bet on what to use to clean it up: Brak-Kleen. I've never had to clean up brake fluid on surfaces that couldn't deal with Brak-Kleen, but I agree with Eric, test first. Sounds like a three or four can job. I would also urge you to yank your carpet, and the funky cork pad under the carpet, and clean these thoroughly. Don't leave a trace of this evil stuff on your bodywork or wiring.
