The only comment I would like to make here is that the battery end of the cable needs to be fused and the wire needs to be sized to take the load. If that cable shorts( because of wear or corrosion ) it will short the battery and deliver the full current. This would be a real hazard with a cable running that far under carpets etc.. As long as the 15Amp fuse is as near the battery as possible, if a short occurred the fuse would blow and prevent the inevitable fire. Just keep in mind that fuses protect wires not the connected equipment
