Seriously, I really do not believe that neither you or I will live long enough to see cars floating 4" over the road, and I believe cars will not have changed that much in the years we have left on this planet. Unless you plan on returning in a later life, and resurrecting your Vanagon that is.

Just take a look at what the 50's Deetroit car designers envisioned we'd be driving in the year of 1995, and you'll see what I mean. I really doubt they thought that we'd be driving around in 30's developed Bugs, and their descendants. They probably thought we'd be living on the Moon, if not Mars.
