Woody...I rebuild lots of Vanagon transmissions....I also wonder where the logic lies in saying they cannot be rebuilt...All that would do is to reduce his credibility...common sense...if it can be made..it most likely can be rebuilt. Also--the VW Bug & Squareback always had marvelous reputations of going anywhere in the snow....tall skinny tires with weight over the drive wheels..perfect 2wd combination.
