Subject: Re: front wheel snowies
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I've just recently put new radial snow tires on both my Jetta and one of my diesel rabbits. The "bad" thing is that the rear tires on both vehicles are less than sufficient for what I use the cars for. the reason they only got tires on the front was because there aren't any available 13inch snow tires around here. I purchased them at 2 different places and neither set was the size I wanted ( the correct size) . I now have 170/70R 13's on the rabbit and 185/70 R 13's on the Jetta, on the front and BOTH cars have 155/80R13's on the rear.( until someone gets resupplied ) The ONLY trouble I'm having comes NOT from the tire being oversized or mismatched , but the hind end wants to pass me from time to time. This is really not a big problem, just point the front in the direction I Want to go and punch the throttle and everything comes back into perspective! VANAGON CONTENT..........I purchased a tranny from Ken at Van-again, excellent service BTW , he put it on the truck on the 22nd and it got to Michigan on Christmas eve. ! However UPS had mishandled the package and it was broken upon arrival. Does anyone know if a guy could remove the "nose piece" of the tranny and replace it with another one , or is it an integral part of the transmission? I was thinking/hoping that it was just a place to bolt on the front mount, and a cover. ???????? Tom
