I thought the R-5 was a super "Le Car" on steroids. (turbo, different suspension, wild body flares, etc.). Saw a couple at a race at Laguna Seca years ago - real screamers as I recall. (It was funny seeing a "Le Car" go 140 MPH around a track... :-)

Stupid a name sounding "Le Car" may be. But that name finally got Americans buying a car which they seemed to refuse to buy when it was called a Renault R-5.
