No, sir. The R-5 Turbo came after the fact. The R-5 sold reasonably well in Europe. Marketed unsuccessfully in the US. Changed names to Le Car. Sold a lot better but not enough to satisfy the bean counters. Hence the departure from the US market.

BTW the R5 Turbo is a totally different animal. It just uses the Le Car's shell. It's more Alpine than Le Car. It's midengined with twin turbo's. You can see one of James Bond's enemies driving one in Octopussy (I think it was in that one). Oh yeah, there's one parked not too far from me.
