Daisy, I suspect that you will find more people agreeable to letting you park in their driveways... for the experience of meeting someone new, doing something different. There are a couple of lists of westy owners and vanagon owners... Keep in touch with the list and see what 'gatherings there are. Be there. Lots of comradery, help, etc.

You, of course, have an invite to park in my driveway, eat homecooked meals, take a shower or two, plan a weekend Yosemite trip, or whatever... whenever you wind up here in the Bay Area.
