Sounds like my "88GL. For me it varies up or down depending which way the wind is blowing. A while back I made a trip west. Started out getting about 19mpg. Went to 23 mpg once I got past Memphis on I 40. When I got West of Amarillo, TX it dropped off to 17.5 mpg. I knew I was bucking a headwind.

Thats my experience.
