This sounds just like the little experience I had just few months after the Berlin wall fell, and the east Germans went on holiday all over Europe. I was driving behind a stinking, smoking, two-stroke Wartburg with way too much luggage and 5 people. At the first sign of a hill, the driver put on his right blinker and headed for the right shoulder to creep up and trying his best to be out of the way. Needless to say, my squareback was a racer compared to this. Imagine them going through Europe this way! Patience my friend, patience!
