Hi Ken, my poorly casted AMC air head makes 150 C easily - the genuine VW 120 typically. Know how to convert to F ? Times 9 divide by 5 + 32. I don't monitor the water head temps separately because - as long as there's enough coolant in the engine (which is checked by the coolant level sender in the expansion tank) - both heads will have the temp given by the standard gauge. I'd say 110 C max. Have fun, Michael, Germany 80 Westy 86 GL
