I have just run into a mechanic who says that buying a rebuilt axle assembly.....including new CV's, boots and grease.....is cheaper that buying the CV's and having the local mechanic do it. I was quoted $134 R&R exchange going the axle assembly way.

My 88GL has developed the dread knock, knock, knock in the rear end somewhere. Has to be the C/V. Just wondering the lists' opinion on the subject.
