In Canada, Canadian =
Tire offers the
same product, part only with exchange, for $150.
To me, this is the way to go, as it's =
soooo much
faster, and then you have 2 new cv's.
I'd say, that if you have jackstands =
and a jack ,
buy a 12 point tool for the cv bolts - you can easily do this yourself =
and save
whatever the mech charges..
My first project with my new-to-me 84 =
Westy, was
replacing a rear boot - and although messy, with the lists help - it was =
easy.
YMMV.

I
have just run into a mechanic who says that buying a rebuilt axle
assembly.....including new CV's, boots and grease.....is cheaper =
that buying
the CV's and having the local mechanic do it. I was quoted $134 =
R&R
exchange going the axle assembly way.
My 88GL has developed the dread knock, knock, knock in the =
rear end
somewhere. Has to be the C/V. Just wondering the lists' opinion on =
the
subject.
