In Canada, Canadian = Tire offers the same product, part only with exchange, for $150.
 
To me, this is the way to go, as it's = soooo much faster, and then you have 2 new cv's.
 
I'd say, that if you have jackstands = and a jack , buy a 12 point tool for the cv bolts - you can easily do this yourself = and save whatever the mech charges..
 
My first project with my new-to-me 84 = Westy, was replacing a rear boot - and although messy, with the lists help - it was = easy.

I have just run into a mechanic who says that buying a rebuilt axle assembly.....including new CV's, boots and grease.....is cheaper = that buying the CV's and having the local mechanic do it. I was quoted $134 = R&R exchange going the axle assembly way.

My 88GL has developed the dread knock, knock, knock in the = rear end somewhere. Has to be the C/V. Just wondering the lists' opinion on = the subject.
