I got a piece of remnant carpet, cut to size and put = it on top of the mattress.  This way the mattress is protected = when we go on trips and pack our stuff into the luggage area.  = When using the mattress for its intended purpose the carpet simply goes = under the mattress.  If I have lots of stuff to haul around, but = don't need the bed, I remove the mattress and the carpet protects the = paint.  Works great.

Subject: Westie luggage area

What is the luggage area like in other ~87 = Westies.

Mine has the mattress directly ontop of the engine = cover. No carpet or
matting, straight onto paint.

Surly some soundproofing here and under the rear seat = would be highly
beneficial.

I was thinking of putting in some wooden rods, = width-ways across the
boot/trunk area, at the height of the top of the = rear seat.
This would stop me from putting bags etc on top of = the matress. Would keep
my luggage hidden from view. It would also be v. = easy to remove the 3(?)
rods to allow the matress to drop down for = sleeping.

What arrangement do other people have,  I'm not = interested in major
carpentry projects, from a = skill/laziness/time/orginality perspective.

Andy

Trying hard to write in 'international' = English
        trunk = -> boot
        wooden = rods -> dowel
        hob -> = cooker (from a previous post)
