can anyone speculate on why my led = light for my water temp has begun to flash?

it started yesterday when i started the = car in the morning.  I turned the engine off for a second and when i started = it again-no flashing.  this morning, same thing.

my temperature seems to be running = normal.  i did here some clicking sounds in the engine ccompartment = area.

could this be a sign of a bad water pump?

please help.
