I have a solution for ya (did the same = thing on my intake pipes).

I used some solvent and a = large L-bent bristle brush found at your local Homebrew shop. Let the solvent set for a = minute and then simple run the brush through a couple of times. Worked great for me.

Subject: Cleaning intake = manifolds

Dear List,

I'm doing an engine replacement on my = '86 Vanagon.
The intake manifold pipes = (the four "spider legs") have a
LOT of carbon in them.  = Most is in the bend (center of
pipes) where it's hard to get at.

Any tips on getting this stuff out, = short of a couple
of hours with a little wire = brush?

TIA,

Steve
