Glad to hear you got it going.
Your diesel is "sucking air". One harmless but messy diagnostic t= o do is to to squirt some motor oil on the fittings at the fuel filter and s= uch, if the bubbles stop you know they are coming in there.
In any case, you should replace the tube with 1/4 inch inside POLY, seeif t= he problem  goes  away. did you replace the filter? after years th= e diesel can congeal on the filter element and slow it down.
