Vanagons have different = light setups than most trailers (separate brake and turn signal lights) so you need = an adaptor that you can buy at most auto parts stores for $10 to $15.  = It will come with instructions.

Subject: Vanagon trailer wiring = help needed

Hi List, =

I purchased a "hitch haul" wheel-less trailer for my Syncro trip to = Alaska.
Since the Van's low tail lights would be covered by my gear = I decided to
mount trailer lights to the thing.

I spliced = into the wires for the left and right turn signals & brake lights
with = no problem, they worked to operate the "trailer" lights just fine.   =

The problem came when I spliced into the running light wire (I = used the right
side) when I hooked up the trailer lights and turned on = the lights at the
dash, the fuse blew for the right side marker = (running) lights.

Is there anyone who can offer some advice on what I = can do to make the
running lights work?  Any suggestions would be = appreciated!

Thank You,
Loretta
