Also, a firm tap with a hammer on the = end of the bleeder greatly increases the chances of success when loosening an old one.

a 7mm is = right, but it is a wobbly fit. I use a box end for a little better
engagement, = just put the wrench on before your bleeder hose. If you have a
line wrench, = well that's OK too.
