Peter,
Now you've made me feel guilty about =
not going out
in the garage earlier and looking, but it's HOT out there! :) Just =
kidding, but
it is hot everywhere in this part of Arizona.
There are 2 wires coming out of the =
shaft under the
knob. The green one is attached to a screw on the base. The black one is =
attached with a screw under the knob. This screw also holds the copper =
piece
which should be sort of "L" shaped, with one leg of the 'L' in a =
vertical
position along the inner circumference of the knob. When you turn the =
knob, the
copper piece makes contact with the screw on the base where the green =
wire is
and completes the circuit to the pump.
You can't take it apart, it is glued or =
welded
together and the wires just run down through the shaft to the bottom. My =
faucet
was leaking from the bottom. I replaced it with a new one and then used =
a
hacksaw to cut the old one open. There are o-rings and rubber balls an =
springs
inside that make it work and keep it from leaking. Mine was leaking =
around the
o-ring at the bottom of the shaft.
So, does the copper piece that fell out =
appear to
be broken? Is the other half still attached under the knob? If so, maybe =
you can
just make a new piece out of copper or brass, bent like the original =
was, drill
a hole in it and attach it.
Hope this helps and good =
luck.
Jerry

Subject: faucet innards (not

Has anyone taken =
apart their
pivoting spout faucet? The little copper piece that is used to =
make
contact with the screw under the knob has become detached on mine and =
I am not
smart enough to figure out how to and where to put it back =
in.
Thanks in =
advance
