HI there, i have an 84 weeekender with THE backseat/bed. First place, i'll
never own another vanagon without one- it is that good.
Here is how it works. There is a knob that you pull out that is located

folks - Matt has the "camper style" rear weekender sofabed, a one year only
thing that resembles the sofabed in a westy (wood frame) but its full length.
the '85 up weekender back sofabeds are different, and metal framed, and
the proceedure to fold them down into a bed is different...the 85 up
weekender back sofabeds have the seatback release latch in the center of the
back of the seatback on the rear sofabeds.. (this is how you tell you have a
weekender sofabed, if your cushion is missing)  you must pull this latch to
disengage the seatback release locks from the side pins that hold it in
place, then lift up on the seatbottom, and pull both back and bottom towards
you, as in a westy.
