Went up to Algonquin Pa=
rk's Mew Lake Camp Ground over the past week end. It was cold with whi=
te stiff on the ground Saturday morning. Went through two bottles of p=
ropane on the Coleman Black Cat with top part way down, stuff stashed on top=
bunk would not let the top all the way down ! It was toasty but havin=
g to wake up and change the propane a couple of times was a PITA. Got =
a small electric heater for Saturday nite as we were in an electrified site.=
That went better ! There were two of us with Westys my bud Simo=
n with his '81 and me with my '87. Algonquin is awesome. First t=
ime I have been there. Been wanting to go for some time but never had =
the chance. I will certainly go back for longer camping. Lots of=
trails for hiking and biking and canoeing galore. Spring time looks g=
ood for the trout fishing so maybe I'll do that. We went in at the Eas=
t Gate from Renfrew way, taking Hyway 60 across the park to Mew Lake. =
Check it out, it's a great place for camping with ypur Westy. Mew Lake=
is small but sports a full pine forest with tons of pine needles for the fl=
oor. We had black ducks in the camp ground all week end. I kept =
trying to entice them into our camp fire for a little barbecue. Hmmmmm=
, they retreated ! Oh, well, next time. We did just fine with ba=
rbecued chicken and noodles with garlic sauce !
Peace
