I've been through that....
Broke down in the Redwoods of CA. years ago. Overheating and I was clueless to Vanagon repair at the time, so I'm a little bit embarrassed to flippin' out about it and probably paying too much. Anyway...I was also flat broke, so I let a friend keep it until
I was able to raise the $750 or so to transport it here to Houston. I just checked the yellow pages under something like Moving or so?

Yeah...I'm sure I walked right into it.

My only advice is to be sure that it's not less expensive to fix it...and drive it.
A good cross country trip in a Vanagon is worth it's weight in gold even if you run into problems! Each trip is an adventure for sure.

List members,
I'm relatively new to the list and a Westy Wannabe. I'm looking everywhere for a 89-91 Westy, road ready, with auto trans and AC. I'm looking outside of the midwest "salt belt" to try to find a Westy that hasn't already started to rust so this requires me to either: #1 fly to the Westy and drive it back or #2 have it shipped to me (in Iowa). I've never tried shipping a vehicle and don't have a clue where to start. Your help would be appreciated.
P.S. If you know of a "choice" vehicle FS like I described please give a holler! TIA
