Hi Everyone, Got my 91 Syncro back from non-VW = mechanic today after clutch job. The fact that his new rear main seal is = leaking and it vibrates so bad I can't drive over 35 really made my day. = The most interesting part was when he showed me my old clutch disk only half worn = and a pressure plate in decent shape but with some gouges in it. Also = said the throw out bearing was in decent shape. He said the flyweel had to = be machined 3/1000 to take out other gouges. He surmises that some = needles from the pilot bearing came loose and got into the clutch causing my = sudden clutch loss and the gouging in the plate and flywheel. Have you = guys seen this happen before? I'll be taking it back on Monday for him to = re-do the main seal. My guess is he didn't mark the driveline when removing = it which fortunately I did last week when I tried, so I'll realign that in the = morning and hopefully take care of the vibration.
