My 2 cents on NAPA oil filters.  They are made by Wix, in fact the part numbers are very close to each other.  I think NAPA drops a couple of numbers to make them differnet.   They are a very good filter and I've never had a problem with them.   I personally don't like Fram filters.  I had a bus with a gauge and I noticed a pressure drop with a Fram filter.  The motor was tired and pressure drop made a difference.    I usually look inside a filter, if I see a valve in there, then I use it.  Thats just me. I change my oil often enought that just about any filter is fine.   Actually, the watercooled Vanagon filter has 2 valves. One to relive pressure and the other to by pss the filter if it gets clogged. But if your filter gets that clogged then its probably time to invest in a new engine.  Take care.
