how do I get the odometer to start workin= g?

I had a inoperative odometer (died after working fine for 7 years and about= 90k miles).  It was easy to extract from the dash (just under the clip= -in hood behind the steering wheel), where I found that a spindle, on which = a differential-like gear was mounted, had slipped from it's mount in the spe= edometer housing.  I simply replaced it, put a dollop of silica caulk o= n the head of the spindle (to keep it from slipping back through) and reasse= mbled the dash.  Has worked fine since.  If you need any other det= ails of my experience, pmailme and I'll share what I know.

I am not sure about the speedometer, but it may be related to wheel diamete= r.  What do you presently have mounted?
