Here we go again,

I agree that Delvac 1 is the best synthetic for my = Passat TDI.  Unfortunately, it is too expensive and hard to get, so I use = Mobil 1.  Now, I am starting to hear that Mobil 1 15W-50 full synthetic = is also not good enough because of soot removal properties!  I know that CF = is not as high as CH, but I thought it was still good enough for a TDI!  = Even Shell Rotella T dino oil is only CF, right?  So what's the real = story here?  (I change every 5K miles).

Thanks,
Michael Townsend

P.S.  I have put Rotella T in my gas 2.1L = Waterboxer before, because it is SJ or something like that.  I wonder if there = is any huge reason to not do that?

Dear Karl,

Mobil 1 = is NOT rated for use with modern Diesels. For that I believe you need an = oil rated CH-4 or better. Mobil Delvac 1 is the way to go (also good is = Amsoil). You can find a lot of info about this on the TDI forums at:

http://www.ufies.org/~fred/forums.html

also try = another excellent Diesel forum = at:
