I have an 84, not an
81......
I *did* have to remove the steering =
wheel from the
steering
column to replace the ignition switch =
itself.
If memory serves,
it was necessary only to get at screws =
etc holding
part of the
plastic steering column cover so that =
the COVER
could be
removed. I think the big nut =
under the
steering wheel's plastic
face is 27mm, but it's been =
awhile.... It
wasn't really a big deal
once I got a good socket on that =
nut.
If you try it, pay
attention to the
orientation of the steering wheel when you
remove it so you can
put it back the same way.
